HOW TO DETERMINE  IF YOU HAVE A LEAK

Our district policy states the customer is responsible for his/her own water lines.  This consists of any/all lines from the meter pit to the house, outlying buildings, hydrants, etc.

The district is responsible for the main line up to and including the meter.

Customers are encouraged to check the meter occasionally for any potential leak activity.  **Please take caution when opening and closing the meter pit lid as electrical components are connected to said lid.  Any damages to components are billed to the customer along with a trip charge.  Prior to leak checking, make sure ALL water sources are off (dishwasher, toilet, hydrant, ice maker, etc.)  Once the actual pit lid has been carefully removed, flip the meter lid for the current reading status.  As 99% of our meters are electronic, the meter will go thru multiple electronic settings.

Your reading will look similar to the below 'Raw Read' example.  Said meter calculates from the far-right side (the 8 in 68), gradually calculating to the far-left side (the 0).  As this '8' calculates, the number '6' will then calculate making a chain reaction going from the far-right side to the far-left side.   If the '8' (in 68) does not move, you do not have a leak.

The district does not offer leak adjustments of any kind.

We also encourage checking livestock waterers multiple times a day.  Livestock waterers can leak 1,000+ gallons per HOUR!
